As all the reviews say, the hotel is beautiful. The rooms are also lovely. The bell staff and the staff at Las Gaviotas were fabulous. Samuel always made us feel welcome when we came back, and Aldo and another team at the restaurant were fantastic.
The rooftop pool has the best sunsets on Cozumel. There is good snorkeling off the pier and around the restaurant. If you walk past the restaurant and past the house, you will reach endless sandy beach access. We walked forever (wish I’d known that because the beach is small but beautiful). A few things to note:
Yes, there are bugs – we left food out and had ants. They came up and took care of it, and we didn’t have a problem after that. There was a storm, and we had a bunch of dead flying bugs on the patio. Without calling, housekeeping removed all of them.
Housekeeping always left us with towel animals and surprises. They left balloons and a towel cake for my husband on our last full day (his birthday was in 3 more days).
They do not care if you take towels from the pool for your outings on the island. They also told me where to find a el cielo private boat tour tour for my family.
If you are platinum or ambassadors at Marriott, there are a few things to note. First, text the hotel early for upgrades. We used suite points for one room and was upgraded for the other. There is no lounge. You are given free breakfast and snacks for 2, according to the front desk.
Snacks is a three-course set snack menu and were the highlight of our food experience. Allow for 45 minutes or ask for taking away. The front desk is much more rigid on this than the restaurant. Amazing stay.
